Most leaders don’t struggle because they lack skill. They struggle because pressure hijacks the brain.
Brain-based leadership focuses on what happens inside the brain during stress and teaches leaders how to regain access to their best thinking, communication, and decision-making when conditions are hardest.

How do I know if I need brain-based leadership training?
What is brain-based leadership training?
Brain-based leadership training focuses on understanding how the brain drives behavior, decision-making, communication, and emotional regulation. Instead of assuming people should always be rational and consistent, it recognizes that leadership is influenced by how the brain interprets its environment, manages stress, and responds to internal and external signals. This training helps leaders work with their biology, not against it, to lead more intentionally and effectively.
Do I understand how the brain actually influences my behavior as a leader?
Most leaders are taught what good leadership looks like, but very few are taught how the brain works. If you’ve never learned how the brain processes threat, safety, emotion, or decision-making, you may be leading without understanding the system driving your behavior. Brain-based leadership training fills that gap and helps leaders make sense of why they respond the way they do.
Does my leadership behavior sometimes change quickly, even when my intentions don’t?
If you’ve noticed that your leadership can shift at the flip of a switch, calm and effective one moment, reactive or withdrawn the next, this isn’t a character flaw. It’s how the brain responds to changing internal and external conditions. Brain-based leadership training helps leaders recognize these shifts and understand what’s influencing them so behavior becomes more consistent and intentional.
Am I aware of the factors outside of “skill” that impact my leadership performance?
Leadership isn’t just influenced by experience or knowledge. Sleep, nutrition, stress levels, workload, and environment all affect how the brain functions. If you’ve never considered how these factors shape focus, patience, emotional regulation, and decision-making, brain-based leadership training provides a more complete picture of what drives leadership performance.
Do I want leadership tools that account for real humans, not ideal conditions?
If you want to lead well not only when things are calm, but also when conditions are imperfect, unpredictable, or demanding, brain-based leadership training offers practical tools grounded in how the brain actually operates. The result is leadership that is more self-aware, adaptable, and effective across a wide range of situations.
About Lisa Marini, CBHC
Brain-based Leadership Coach
Lisa Marini is a brain-based leadership trainer and speaker who helps leaders understand how the brain drives behavior, decision-making, and performance, especially in high-pressure environments. Her work is grounded in neuroscience and focused on practical application, giving leaders tools they can use when it matters most.
Before founding her private practice in 2017, Lisa spent seventeen years in the construction industry as a lead supervisor for a general contractor, leading large, multifamily projects. That experience gives her a deep understanding of the realities leaders face when stress is high, timelines are tight, and people dynamics are complex.
Lisa’s approach helps leaders recognize how the brain interprets stress, safety, and environment, and how factors like pressure, sleep, and workload impact leadership behavior. By working with the brain rather than against it, leaders build greater clarity, consistency, and effectiveness. Lisa is bilingual and delivers training and speaking engagements in both English and Spanish.
Lisa graduated from Colorado State University in 2000 and holds certifications in multiple neuroscience- and behavior-based modalities, including Brain Health Coaching, Insights Discovery, Hypnotherapy, Brainspotting, Neurosculpting®, Neurolinguistic Programming, HeartMath+, and Integrative Health Coaching. She is also the author of The Couple’s Playbook: Relationships Are a Team Sport, Set Yours Up to Win.

“This work, as a prerequisite to any leadership development program, will definitely yield higher quality leaders, more productive employees and happier humans in the workplace.“
“After having the opportunity to experience Lisa and her work I’m reassessing the way I approach leadership training and development. Regardless of the methodology and content we use to “develop” people and leaders, until they have the ability to operate their most vital tool (the brain) we’re limiting their ability to be the highest version of leaders and humans. This work, as a prerequisite to any leadership development program, will definitely yield higher quality leaders, more productive employees and happier humans in the workplace. That’s what I play for as an HR leader and I look forward to continuing in partnership with Lisa in our shared commitment to creating the kick- ass leaders of the future.”
“Lisa Marini has helped our team members get and maintain peak performance without getting stressed. The intense environment of serving Fortune 500 companies and government agencies on six continents can have an adverse effect on a person if they aren’t aware of how their brain functions at work. Lisa shared tools, knowledge, and team practices that preserve the peace and harmony we bring to each other and our clients.”
